Weight loss for men is not as frequently discussed as weight loss for women, but many men require weight loss information to help them lose those extra pounds. Learn how to lose that gut below.

The principals of weight loss are the same for men as they are form women. The basic idea is consume less calories than you consume. There are many different ways that you can do this. You can eat less or eat less fattening food, you can increase your exercise which will burn more calories or you can doa combination of both. Most men will do a combination of both, they will alter their diet and increase their activity levels.

A diet for men

There is no single diet which fits for all men, weight loss follows the rule above calories in is less than calories out. This means you are burning more calories than you are consuming and will lose weight. The problem for men tends to be fat accumulating around their abdomen, making them “apple shaped”. This is known to increase the risk of weight-related diseases, especially coronary heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. A waist measurement of over 37 inches indicates a slight health risk, whilst over 40 inches indicates a substantially increased risk.

The best diet strategy for men is the non-diet strategy. Small and subtle changes to your eating, drinking and exercise habits that won’t embarrass you in front of friends and colleagues and that are sustainable. The emphasis should be on health, fitness and generally looking after your health.

Long term weight loss for men

A long term solution for weight loss in men requires that it becomes an accepted part of your life. Make small changes and keep with them until they are second nature. Then make further small changes that will again become part of your long term routine. It doesn’t matter if you are over 40, over 50 or over 60, the same principals apply
